The full run

Where we actually go

Fourteen suburbs have their own page. The service area is a good deal wider than that, so here it is written out properly.

The northern suburbs and the coastal villages

North of the city the escarpment drops almost into the sea, and everything wedged onto that strip lives with bushland over the back fence. That geography sets the job: more spiders in the eaves, rats coming down out of the trees in autumn, and the occasional possum that has worked out a fascia gap.

We cover the whole run — Helensburgh, Stanwell Park, Coalcliff, Scarborough, Wombarra, Coledale, Austinmer, Thirroul, Bulli and Woonona — then down through Bellambi, Corrimal, East Corrimal, Towradgi, Fairy Meadow, Tarrawanna and Balgownie. Properties up on the plateau at Maddens Plains and Darkes Forest are on the same trip north.

Wollongong, the western suburbs and the escarpment foothills

Central Wollongong and North Wollongong are mostly unit blocks and older semis, which means cockroaches and the shared-wall problems that come with them. West of the highway the blocks get bigger and back onto the escarpment, and the mix shifts to spiders, rodents and termites.

That takes in Gwynneville, Keiraville, Mount Ousley, Mount Pleasant, Mount Saint Thomas, Coniston, Figtree, Cordeaux Heights, Farmborough Heights, Unanderra, Mount Kembla and Kembla Heights. Kembla Grange sits at the bottom of that run where the foothills flatten out towards the racecourse.

Port Kembla and the lake's northern shore

The industrial end of the city and the suburbs around it — Port Kembla, Warrawong, Cringila, Lake Heights, Berkeley, Kemblawarra, Primbee and Windang — are a different set of calls again. Older housing stock, a lot of slab-on-ground, and the lake close enough that mosquitoes are a genuine seasonal problem rather than a nuisance.

Around Lake Illawarra and the Shellharbour side

South of the lake the estates are newer and the termite conversation is usually about a barrier installed at construction and what has since been built up against it. Garden beds and slab edges do most of the damage.

We work Dapto, Koonawarra, Kanahooka, Brownsville, Horsley, Lake Illawarra, Warilla, Barrack Heights, Oak Flats, Shellharbour, Shellharbour City Centre, Shell Cove, Flinders, Blackbutt, Albion Park, Albion Park Rail and out to Calderwood and Tullimbar.

Kiama, Gerringong and down to the Shoalhaven

The southern end of the run is Kiama, Kiama Downs, Minnamurra, Jamberoo, Gerringong, Gerroa and Berry, then across the river to Bomaderry, Nowra and Shoalhaven Heads. Acreage and hobby farms start in earnest around Jamberoo and the Kiama hinterland, and those blocks get the bush-block version of the conversation rather than the suburban one.

If your suburb isn't written down anywhere on this page, it almost certainly still gets a visit. The boundaries above are where the van goes most weeks, not a fence. Ask us and we'll tell you straight whether you're in the run.
