Spider Control

Redbacks in the letterbox, funnel-webs after the rain, webs across every eave — we treat the spiders the Illawarra is known for, and keep them from coming back.

If you live anywhere from Helensburgh to Nowra, spiders are just part of the deal. The Illawarra's mix of bush, water and warm summers suits them — and a redback tucked into the kids' trampoline or a funnel-web wandering across the laundry floor after a downpour is enough to make anyone uneasy.

We've treated thousands of Illawarra homes for spiders, and the approach is always the same: find where they're actually living, and deal with it there.

The spiders we see most around here

  • Redbacks — under outdoor furniture, in letterboxes, behind pot plants and in the corners of the shed. They love anywhere dry and undisturbed.
  • Funnel-webs — ground dwellers that turn up in mulch, retaining walls and damp garden beds, especially through summer and after heavy rain. Common in the escarpment suburbs.
  • Black house and huntsman spiders — the big web-builders and the fast movers that give everyone a fright on the lounge-room wall.
  • Daddy-long-legs and webbing spiders — harmless enough, but their webs make a place look neglected fast.

How we treat them

A web knock-down on its own looks good for a week, then you're back where you started. We go after the source instead. That means a targeted treatment to the eaves, weep holes, window frames, fence lines, sheds and garden edges where spiders shelter and hunt — the places they keep coming back to.

For ground dwellers like funnel-webs, we focus on the harbourage around the home: mulch beds, rockeries and the damp corners they like. You get a treated barrier that keeps new spiders from settling in, not just the ones you happened to see.

What you can do between treatments

Knock down fresh webbing when you spot it, keep firewood and clutter off the ground, and trim back plants touching the house. It all makes the place less inviting — but if spiders have already moved in, a quick treatment will sort it far faster than the broom.

Give us a call and we'll talk through what you're seeing. No drama, no upsell — just honest advice and a treatment that holds.

Common questions

Are the spider treatments safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use professional products applied where spiders live and travel, not across surfaces your family touches. Once it's dry — usually a couple of hours — the treated areas are safe to use as normal. If you'd prefer a low-tox option, just ask when you book.
How long before I stop seeing spiders?
You'll usually notice a big drop within a few days as spiders move through the treated areas. Webbing spiders thin out fastest; ground dwellers like funnel-webs can take a little longer. A treatment typically holds for several months.
Do you treat funnel-webs?
We do. Funnel-webs are common across the Illawarra escarpment suburbs and they're one to take seriously. We treat the ground harbourage around the home rather than just knocking down webs you can see.
