Flea Control

Fleas don't give up easily — most of an infestation isn't even adult fleas yet. We treat the whole cycle, indoors and out, so they're actually gone.

Fleas are one of those problems that feels never-ending, and there's a reason for that. By the time you're noticing bites around the ankles or spotting them on the dog, the adult fleas you can see are only about five percent of what's actually in your home. The other ninety-five percent — eggs, larvae and pupae — are tucked down in the carpet fibres, the cracks in the floorboards, the pet's bedding and out in the shaded parts of the yard.

That's why treating the pet alone, or a quick vacuum, never quite finishes the job. You knock down the adults and a fresh batch hatches a week later.

When people call us about fleas

  • Homes with pets — especially through the warm, humid Illawarra summer when fleas breed fastest.
  • After tenants move out — flea infestations are one of the most common end-of-lease pest jobs, and a treatment is often a condition of the lease.
  • After moving into a new place — pupae can lie dormant for months and then hatch when a new warm body (you or your pet) moves in.

How we treat them

We treat the whole environment, not just what you can see. That means an internal treatment through the carpets, skirtings and pet resting areas, plus the yard and shaded outdoor spots where fleas breed. The products we use keep working on the larvae as they develop, which is how you actually break the cycle rather than just knocking the top off it.

A bit of prep on your side makes a big difference — a thorough vacuum beforehand and keeping the vet treatment going on your animals. We'll walk you through all of it.

If the fleas just won't quit, give us a call and we'll get on top of them properly.

Common questions

Why won't the fleas go away even after I've treated my pet?
Because only a small fraction of a flea problem is the adults on your pet. The rest — eggs, larvae and pupae — are in the carpet, the bedding and the yard, waiting to hatch. Treating the pet without treating the environment is why it drags on for months.
How should I prepare for a flea treatment?
Vacuum thoroughly (it stimulates the pupae to hatch so the treatment can reach them), wash pet bedding on hot, and keep your vet flea treatment up to date on the animals. We'll give you the full rundown when you book.
Is it safe for my pets and kids?
Yes, when it's done properly. We use products and methods chosen with pets and children in mind, and we'll let you know how long to keep everyone off treated areas while they dry.
