Mosquito Treatment

If you can't sit in your own backyard at dusk without being eaten alive, a mosquito treatment will change your summer. We target where they breed and rest.

Few things ruin a Wollongong summer evening faster than mosquitoes. You fire up the barbecue, the sun drops behind the escarpment, and suddenly the whole family is swatting and retreating indoors. With our warm, humid summers and no shortage of water around the Illawarra, mosquitoes have it easy here.

The trick to controlling them isn't chasing individual mozzies with a can — it's understanding how they live, and breaking the cycle.

Why your yard is a mosquito magnet

Mosquitoes need two things: still water to breed in, and cool, shaded spots to rest in during the heat of the day. Most backyards offer both without the owner realising it.

  • Breeding water — blocked gutters, pot-plant saucers, the kids' old paddling pool, a forgotten bucket, bromeliads, and the bottom of the wheelie bin. It doesn't take much; a capful of water can raise a brood.
  • Resting spots — dense shrubs, shaded fence lines, under the deck, and damp, leafy corners where they wait out the day before coming out to feed at dusk.

How we treat them

We do two things at once. First, we treat the resting zones — the shaded foliage and sheltered areas where adult mosquitoes sit through the day — so they're knocked down before the evening feed. Second, we look at the breeding sites around your property and deal with the standing water, because killing adults only helps so much if a fresh batch is hatching every few days.

That combination is what makes the difference. It's not about a single spray; it's about hitting both ends of their life cycle.

A little help from you

Tip out anything that holds water after rain, keep the gutters clear, and change pet water and bird baths regularly. Pair that with a treatment and you'll actually get to use the yard again — long evenings outside, minus the welts.

Common questions

Can you really reduce mosquitoes in an open backyard?
We can knock numbers down a lot. We treat the cool, shaded spots where mosquitoes rest during the day and tackle the standing water where they breed. You won't get a sealed bubble, but most people find the difference between unusable and genuinely enjoyable.
How long does a mosquito treatment last?
Typically a few weeks to a couple of months, depending on the weather and how much breeding habitat is around. Through peak summer, a treatment before a big event or a regular seasonal schedule works best.
Is it safe for my veggie patch and pets?
Yes. We place treatments thoughtfully around resting and breeding zones and keep them away from edibles and pet areas. Tell us about your veggie garden and pets when you book and we'll plan around them.
