Termite Inspections

Termites quietly cause more damage to Australian homes than fire, flood and storms combined. A regular inspection is the cheapest insurance you'll ever buy.

Termites don't announce themselves. They work quietly inside walls, skirtings and structural timbers, often for months or years, and by the time you see the damage it's already expensive. For most people, the family home is the biggest thing they'll ever own — and termites are the one pest that can genuinely threaten it.

The Illawarra is termite country. Warm, damp conditions, plenty of bushland and a lot of older timber homes make it a region where activity is common rather than rare. The good news is that termite damage is almost entirely preventable when you catch it early — and that's what an inspection is for.

What we actually check

A proper timber-pest inspection is methodical. We work through:

  • The interior — skirtings, door frames, window reveals, wet areas and anywhere timber meets moisture.
  • The roof void — a favourite, and often-missed, spot for activity.
  • The subfloor, where accessible — damp, dark and exactly what termites like.
  • The exterior and grounds — fences, retaining walls, stumps, garden beds and any timber in contact with the soil.

We use moisture meters and sounding to find what the eye can't, and we look for the conditions that invite termites in, not just the termites themselves.

You get a clear report, not jargon

After the inspection we'll talk you through what we found in plain English — what's active, what's a risk, and what (if anything) needs doing. If there's a problem, we'll lay out your options without the scare tactics. If there isn't, you'll know your home is clear and what to keep an eye on.

Prevention beats cure, every time

Even if you've never seen a termite, the conditions can build up quietly: a leaking tap against an external wall, mulch piled up against the brickwork, timber offcuts left under the deck. A yearly inspection catches all of it before it becomes a repair bill with a lot of zeros.

Booking one is simple and it doesn't take long. Give us a call and we'll get you on the calendar — your future self will thank you.

Common questions

How often should I get a termite inspection?
For most Illawarra homes, once a year. If you're in a higher-risk spot — backing onto bush, near a creek, or with a history of activity in the street — every six to twelve months is wise. Annual inspections are also a condition of many termite warranties.
What happens if you find termites?
We don't panic, and you shouldn't either. We'll show you exactly what we found, explain how active it is, and walk you through your options for treatment and ongoing protection. The worst thing you can do is disturb them before we've had a look.
Do you check more than just termites?
Yes. A timber-pest inspection also looks for borers, wood decay and conditions that make termites more likely — moisture, poor drainage, timber in contact with soil. You get the full picture, not just a tick box.
